Frostbite

Frostbite is a condition where the local or deep skin tissues freeze due to extreme cold. They occur in those parts of the body which are exposed to the extreme weather conditions. It generally happens when the temperature drops below 0 degrees. At such low temperatures the blood vessels start constricting as a mechanism to retain the core body temperature. But the unavailability of blood for a long time causes the skin tissues in that area to die. Frostbite can be avoided by putting on proper insulation on the body. One should put on warm clothes in winters. The affected area can be treated by warming.
